RUSKIN - The Friends of the SouthShore Library will host a book sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the library, 15816 Beth Shields Way.
The sale will have a large selection of books available in a "Buck a Bag" format - fill a bag with books for $1.
The sale also will include a silent auction of five leather-bound books published by The Easton Press. The books will be auctioned individually. Each book is in "perfect" condition, with raised spine, 22 karat gold cover text and tool work. One of the titles included is "The Descent of Man" by Charles Darwin.
The silent auction also will include a 52-volume set of "Harvard Classics Five Foot Book Shelf" by P.F. Collier & Sons, copyright 1910; and a 54-volume set of "Great Books of the Western World" by the Encyclopedia Britannica, 1952. Both sets are in "good" condition.
Proceeds from the sale will go to provide free literacy, art and environmental programs for children and adults at the library.
