RUSKIN - Members of the nonprofit, no-kill Critter Abuse and Rescue Effort animal shelter recently selected new board members for 2007-08.
The new board members are Linda Earles, Kelly Marishkanish and Christine Stiles. Priscilla Mixon was re-elected to another two-year term. The other board members are Lori Bruno, Don Hinderliter and Tim Otte.
C.A.R.E. is an all-volunteer shelter for stray and relinquished dogs and cats. It has more than 50 animals awaiting adoption.
Another highlight from the organization's annual general membership meeting included a presentation by Judy Stimson of Feline Folks on efforts to trap and neuter feral cats.
Don Hinderliter, the organization's president, outlined shelter accomplishments during the past year and highlighted plans for the upcoming year.
Past board members Ginny Fairbank, Roger Harker and Kara Rutherford were thanked for their efforts in shelter operations during their terms, which allowed the shelter to fund construction of its new cat facility.
