RUSKIN - Workers in tomato fields, brightly colored fish and intricate seashells are among the student artwork chosen to grace a set of note cards being sold as a fundraiser for the Friends of SouthShore Library.

Eight student winners from Ruskin Elementary and Beth Shields Middle schools were selected from entries for an art contest with the theme The Natural World Around Us, held as part of the first-year celebration of the library.

The winners whose pictures grace the note cards are: Ruskin Elementary's Corey Brooks and Alondra Rojas, fifth grade; Brenda Carranza, fourth grade; and Cesar Carrera, Joseph Figueroa and Jaime Manzanares, third grade. And Maria Leon, seventh grade; and Victor Segura, eighth grade, both of Beth Shields.

The cards were printed through a grant from the Community Foundation of Sun City Center.

The all-occasion cards, with blank insides, are being sold at the checkout desk of the SouthShore Regional Library in packets of eight, with envelopes, for $10. Proceeds from the sale of the cards will go toward the art and education programs supported by the Friends of the Library.
