White Cane Drive Will Help The Blind
SUN CITY CENTER - The Sun City Center Lions Club will hold its 22nd annual White Cane Drive on Friday and Saturday. The drive will raise money to help the blind and visually handicapped.
'Look for the Sun City Center Lions members in various locations throughout the local community,' said Ellen McGovern, club publicity chairwoman.
The White Cane Drive is normally held in the same month as Lions World Sight Day, which was Oct. 11. Hundreds of Lions Clubs around the world are conducting events this month to improve people's eyesight by providing eye screenings, collecting glasses or educating people about good eye health and diseases that affect vision.
'One hundred percent of the funds raised in the White Cane Drive are donated to organizations that assist people who are either blind, visually handicapped or to help prevent blindness,' McGovern said. 'When you see one of the Sun City Center Lions members, please be generous.'
Donations also may be mailed to the Sun City Center Lions Club, P.O. Box 5684, Sun City Center FL 33571. For information about the club, visit www.suncitycenterlions .com or call Terry McGovern, membership director, at (813) 633-4202.
