RIVERVIEW - Construction crews will be working in the dead of night to install a water main along Balm-Riverview Road near Riverview High School, and motorists won't be able to get through after 9 p.m. Thursday.
Southbound motorists can circumvent the roadblock by turning east on Boyette Road, then south on McMullen Road, then doubling-back on Tucker Road to rejoin Balm-Riverview.
The road is expected to be open by 6 a.m. Friday. Public schools are closed to students that day, although teachers will be reporting to work for a planning day.
Meanwhile, Tampa Electric Co. has received county permits to temporarily block lanes on some South Shore streets to replace power poles or equipment. The permits allow lanes on the following roads to be closed intermittently from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Oct. 26.
In Gibsonton:
• Fern Hill Road, from Symmes Road to Gibsonton Drive, the northbound lane.
• Palm Avenue, between Tamiami Trail and Lula Street, the westbound lane.
• Maggie Street, between Anna and Estelle avenues, the southbound lane.
• Roosevelt Street, between Fleming and Nundy avenues, the northbound lane.
• Alafia Street, between Gibsonton Drive and Nundy Avenue, the southbound lane.
• Sunset Court, from Gibsonton Drive to Sunset's dead end, the southbound lane.
In Summerfield:
• Balm-Riverview Road, the southbound lane south of Big Bend Road.
• Big Bend Road at Summerfield Boulevard, the eastbound, outside lane.
• Big Bend Road at Silvercreek Drive, the eastbound, outside lane.
