SUN CITY CENTER - The South Shore Concert Band will rehearse at 7 p.m. every Monday in the Hayden Music Room at the rear of United Community Church, 1501 La Jolla Ave.
The band's repertoire includes a variety of genres including marches, show tunes and classical.
Edwin Nawrock directs the 14-year-old ensemble of more than 40 musicians, who come not only from Sun City Center, but also from Brandon, Riverview, Tampa, Ellenton and Bradenton. New players are welcome.
The group will perform a Christmas concert Dec. 8 in Community Hall, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Blvd. Joining the band for the third year will be the German-American Singers.

African Missionary Is Featured Artist
KINGS POINT - The Kings Point Art League's featured artist for October is Eleanor Crossley, who moved to Kings Point in 2001 with her husband, Jim, after they worked as Methodist missionaries in Zimbabwe for a year.
Crossley's medium of choice is watercolor; her favorite subject is flowers.
'She has won many ribbons for her paintings,' said Barbara Graham, league publicist. 'Crossley has always been interested in the arts. She received a degree in interior design and enjoyed working in that field.'
Crossley's paintings may be viewed in the windows of the Kings Point main clubhouse art room, 1900 Clubhouse Drive, until Nov. 3.
Ohio Club To Celebrate With Halloween Party SUN CITY CENTER - The Ohio Club of Sun City Center invites members to a Halloween party at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Community Hall, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Blvd.
The 'club will provide subs, sides, dessert and coffee,' said publicity chairwoman Jo Smalley.
'Members are encouraged to wear their best Halloween costumes, but they're not required. Come and join us for fun and games.'

Tax Collector To Attend Republican Club Meeting
SUN CITY CENTER - The Greater Sun City Center Republican Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce, 1651 Sun City Center Plaza.
At 2 p.m. Doug Belden, Hillsborough County tax collector, will discuss the way properties are taxed.
'All Republicans and Independents are most welcome to attend,' said Ron Pelton, publicity chairman. 'Come and bring a friend.'

Hit The Links For Softball Team
LITHIA - Coach Jessi Kowal and the Newsome High School softball team will hold the fourth annual four-player scramble golf tournament at noon Nov. 3 at the Bloomingdale Golfers Club, 4113 Great Golfers Club, in Valrico.
A $90 player fee covers golf and cart, balls, lunch, awards banquet and gift pack. Prizes will be given to the winners of contests for putting, longest drive, hole-in-one and closest to the pin.
'It is our team's major fundraiser,' said Kathy Schultz, publicity chair. 'Hope to see you Nov. 3.'

Craft Fair Preparations In High Gear
SUN CITY CENTER - The United Community Church, 1501 La Jolla Ave., will hold its ninth annual craft fair from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 3.
Linda's Sweet Shop will be stocked with coffee and treats for early shoppers and with lunch later in the morning.
The Dorcas craft group 'knit, crochet, sew, embroider and craft unusual and very special projects for the fair,' said Hazel Martin, publicity chair.
Committee members Helga Martin, Carolyn Boehm, June Painter, Jeannette Harrington and Eleanor McClew, Dorcas group; Shirlee Wiseman and Linda Shaw, bake sale; Roz Cruthis, decorations; and others have worked hard under the direction of Harry Friedenreich, chairman, to prepare for the event.

Sorority Sisters Tour Television Studio
SUN CITY CENTER - Seven Xi Xi Omicron sorority sisters recently constituted the audience of 'Daytime,' an hour-long show on WFLA-TV.
Linda Atkins, Pat Pelton, Gerri Roth, Donna McLennan, Angela Wallace, Rosie Clifton and Kathy Panzner, who arranged the activity, watched the taping of show segments. They also met Cyndi Edwards and Dave Nemeth, the hosts of the show.
When the taping was finished, the seven 'celebrated the chapter's birthday with lunch and a cake at Della's Delectables' in Brandon, Clifton said.
