SOUTH SHORE - More than 100 people recently 'frolicked' from Sun City Center to Apollo Beach during a SouthShore Arts Council event.
Dubbed the South Shore Art Frolic, the event showcased local artists and fine craftsmen presenting their work in a variety of businesses.
The event included members of the Art Club of Sun City Center, which boasts acclaimed artists who share their talent through the club's gallery and teaching facility.
Other artists included Fred Rothenbush of Ruskin, who displayed his wildlife paintings at Southern Grace Home Accessories in Ruskin; the craftsmen, who exhibited at The Resort & Club at Little Harbor; and Riverview artist Craig Steven Todd, who gave painting demonstrations at Wilhelm Heating and Air Conditioning.
In Apollo Beach, South Shore Gallery artist Sandra Z. Duran exhibited her three-dimensional glass art.
'Glass molds me; I want it to be useful as well as decorative,' she said.
Hillsborough Community College's Sun Point office featured Virginia Laudano, a Sun City art instructor.
HCC credit manager Steven Stancil was hopeful the area would have more events. He said the college supports the arts and looks forward to greater participation when its new facility opens.
