APOLLO BEACH - South Shore coffee lovers have a new way to jump-start their day now that the Sa Va Cafe has opened.
'I think the community has been waiting for this,' said Apollo Beach resident Melanie Morrison. 'The owners are such wonderful people. They knew my name the second time I stopped in and also what I would order.'
Situated behind the M&I Bank across from MiraBay, it offers a full array of specialty drinks, including cappuccinos and lattes, espressos, frozen smoothies, cafe au lait and fat-free energy drinks.
'I stumbled upon it a couple of weeks ago, and I just love it,' said Cressy Fleming of MiraBay, who was making her fourth visit. 'The food is delicious, and the coffee is outstanding. And the people are very friendly. We really needed something like this in Apollo Beach.'
The cafe opened Sept. 19, and residents are slowly discovering its charm. Offering light breakfast and lunch fare in addition to its caffeine fixes, the menu also features a kids menu, tea and desserts such as tiramisu, cheesecake and muffins. The 1,250-square-foot cafe is Wi-Fi ready and suitable for birthday celebrations, meetings and other small gatherings.
In July, owners Sy and Leah Momenzadeh moved from the Deltona area to Ruskin with their three children - Arianna, 7, Arielle, 12, and Nik, 15. The family loved the laid-back yet upscale atmosphere of Apollo Beach, Leah said.
They had come to Apollo Beach to visit friends and fell in love with it, she said.
'That's when we decided to open a coffee bar here.'
'It was something I always wanted to do,' Sy Momenzadeh said.
Opening the cafe is a dream come true, because he and Leah wanted to open a business the whole family could be involved in, Sy said. A coffee shop in Apollo Beach seemed perfect because the area was lacking one.
Sy designed the cafe, and Leah decorated it.
'We want people to feel at home here,' she said.
