Thursday
Ready, Set, Shred
If you're someone who likes to dispose of your sensitive documents in a safe and secure way, then head on over to M&I Bank's SouthShore Branch, 5461 N. U.S. 41, Apollo Beach, for its free ShredFest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.
Curly Joes will provide an industrial-size shredder to destroy personal and confidential documents. A camera will let participants watch as their items are destroyed.
Saturday
Check Out Drum Lines
The Florida Bandmasters Association's District VII will host a marching band festival at Bloomingdale High School's Charlie Harris Stadium, 1700 E. Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico, from 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
Twenty-three Hillsborough County high school marching bands and their auxiliary teams will gather at the school to compete for titles in performance, marching and maneuvering, percussion and other categories.
The bands will perform for a panel of six judges. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students. Call (813) 744-8018.
Fall Pet Adoption Expo
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and No More Homeless Pets in Hillsborough County are hosting a fall pet adoption expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Florida State Fairgrounds' Special Events Building, 4800 U.S. 301 N., Tampa.
More than 20 animal rescue groups, as well as Hillsborough County Animal Services and the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, will be present with hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens looking for homes.
The event will also feature pet merchandise, door prizes and demonstrations on topics such as pet behavior and 'Ask a Veterinarian.' Donations are accepted.

Zoofari Treats
Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo will present the 21st annual Zoofari from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday.
The event will feature food from more than 80 restaurants, open bars and live music. Tickets are $85 and all-inclusive. VIP or group packages are available by calling (813) 935-8552, Ext. 276. The zoo is at 1101 W. Sligh Ave.
All Weekend
Seafood Festival
The 19th annual Ruskin Seafood Festival takes over E.G. Simmons Park, 2401 19th Ave. N.W., this weekend.
Saturday's hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday's are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is an interactive children's area, arts and crafts show, boat expo, a wide variety of music and, of course, seafood.
Cost is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and is free for children 12 and younger. For information, visit www.ruskinseafood festival.org.
Plan Ahead
Harry Potter Trivia
Harry Potter trivia experts are invited to compete in the Harry Potter and the Library Cup Tournament on Nov. 10 at the SouthShore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin.
Compete in the team challenge at 2 p.m. or the family challenge at 4 p.m. For those confident enough to go it alone, there is an individual challenge as well. All ages are welcome, and costumes are encouraged. Prizes will be awarded.

The questions will cover all books in the series, so you better start reading.
