WIMAUMA - A South Shore-based organization wants to catch up to area youths before they fall into a life of crime.
To that end, Youth Environmental Services will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its headquarters.
The goal of the organization is to treat and rehabilitate delinquent males ages 14 to 18 and to prevent them from entering the criminal justice system.
It is a performance-based residential program stressing academic achievement, appropriate behavior and a positive attitude.
The open house will include the participation of current and past members of the program who will share their experiences and how their lives have changed since their enrollment.
Experts on the juvenile justice system will also be present to provide statistics about how the Y.E.S. program is helping to lessen the burden on our community by reforming juveniles who have committed crimes.
