MASTER CHORALE OF TAMPA BAY: The chorale will have auditions Tuesday-Aug. 26 in the Fine Arts Hall 107 at the University of South Florida School of Music, 4202 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa. Singers should prepare a 2-3 minute song or aria. Bring extra sheet music as an accompanist will be provided. Sight-singing, rhythm and vocal exercises will be tested. HELP FOR THE HARD OF HEARING: The Deaf & Hearing Connection for Tampa Bay, Inc. offers specialized telephones and ring signaling devices at no cost to Florida residents who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf/blind or speech-impaired. The equipment is available by appointment, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Deaf & Hearing Connection's main office in Seminole or at satellite locations throughout Hillsborough County. The SouthShore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin, will distribute equipment to qualifying residents beginning at 1 p.m. Aug. 27.
Free hearing screenings, other assistive equipment and affordable hearing aids are also available on site at the Deaf & Hearing Connection, a non-profit organization specializing in communication access for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or late deafened. ATTENTION ARTISTS: The SouthShore Arts Council is accepting applications for the third annual Plein Air Festival, which will take place March 27-29. BOOKS WANTED: The book store at the SouthShore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin, is doing well and is in need of more books to sell, especially children's books. Books can be dropped off at the library, or call (813) 634-1396 to have them picked up. The Riverview Friends of the Library is also seeking donations of good used books, tapes, DVDs and CDs. The items will be sold in the library's foyer. Donations may be dropped off at the library, 10509 Riverview Drive, during regular hours.

WALK FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER: The second annual Cure Kids Cancer Challenge, benefiting the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, will be Sept. 13 at Park Square in FishHawk Ranch, 16144 Churchview Drive, Lithia. Walkers and runners can choose between a 5K and a 1-mile course. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., and the walk starts at 9 a.m. The cost is $25 per person, or $100 for teams of up to six.
