Army Pvt. William C. Bates has graduated from basic training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Gerold Bates of Ruskin.

Stephanie R. McDaniel has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army after completing the Army ROTC program and graduating with a bachelor's degree from Florida State University. She will serve in the Army Aviation Corps, and will go to the Basic Officer Leader's Course at Fort Benning, Ga. After completing the course, McDaniel will be assigned to Fort Rucker, Ala. She is the daughter of Richard M. and Cynthia A. McDaniel of Riverview, and a 2004 graduate of East Bay High School.

Air Force Airman Mariyam A. Parham has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Anna and Kevin Parham of Riverview and a 2007 graduate of East Bay High School.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Daniel T. Rust has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Rust is the son of Cynthia Rust of Decatur, Ga., and grandson of Evelyn Rust of Sun City Center.

Coast Guard Seaman Apprentice Jose O. Martinez recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J. Martinez is a 2005 graduate of Riverview High School.

Air Force 1st Lt. Judd R. Bean, a judge advocate assigned to the 374th Airlift Wing, has arrived for duty at Yokota Air Base in Tokyo. He is the son of Judd R. and Cyd D. Bean of Riverview. Bean earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in 2004 and a law degree from St. Thomas University in Miami in 2007.

Air Force Airman Karl Estandarte has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Jim and Jossie Edwards of Ruskin, and a 2008 graduate of Blake High School.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Anthony M. Portz has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Anthony Portz of Riverview and a 2005 graduate of Riverview High School.
