Saturday

The Camellias Cometh

The Tampa Bay Area Camellia Society presents its 18th Annual Camellia Show at the Tampa Woman's Club, 2901 Bayshore Blvd., Tampa, on Saturday. Blooms can be entered into competition from 7 to 9:30 a.m., and the judging begins at 10:30. You do not need to be a club member to enter the contest. All blooms will be displayed to the public from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

A plant sale is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless items sell out early.

The Tampa Bay Area Camellia Society meets the second Thursday from October through April in Brandon. For information, call Mary Digan, (863) 640-3381.

Sunday

Deadly Combination

See the 1944 Frank Capra film "Arsenic & Old Lace" at 3 p.m. Sunday in the historic Tampa Theatre, 711 Franklin St., Tampa. Cary Grant, Raymond Massey and Peter Lorre star in this classic cinematic favorite in which two little old ladies really enjoy serving tea to lonely gentlemen.

All Weekend

It's Bluegrass Time

The Bluegrass Extravaganza comes to the Rollins Theater in Sun City Center for four shows this weekend. Performers will include Ron Block, a member of Allison Krauss and Union Station; Sierra Hull, Mandolin Player of the Year 2008 nominee; Beth Lawrence, a member of the Mark Newton Band; Cory and Jarrod Walker; and Kelly Emerson, son of well-known bluegrass musician Bill Emerson.

Show times are 1 and 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 6 p.m. Sunday. Proceeds will go to the Rollins Theater renovations fund. Tickets are $17 and available at the atrium kiosk. For credit card sales, call (813) 642-0606.

Plan Ahead

Elvis Remembrance

"Memories of Elvis" will be presented by the Blackwood Brothers Quartet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 8 in Community Hall, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Blvd., Sun City Center. The show is scheduled on Elvis Presley's birthday. The Blackwoods were friends of the singer and asked to sing at his funeral.

The performance benefits the Sun City Center Emergency Squad. Tickets are $15 and are available at the squad. Call (813) 642-0920 or e-mail dleath@dleath.com.

Notre Dame Comes To Town

The University of Notre Dame Liturgical Choir visits the Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, on Jan. 7. The choir will perform a free program of sacred music in the main sanctuary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Music will include plainchant, Latin motets of the Renaissance, 19th century French, British and German music and works by American composers.

Eric Routen of Brandon and Madison Prieto of Lutz are members of the choir, and Prieto is president of the group.
