Latin Singer To Shine
Latin crooner Alejandro Sanz will perform his signature romantic ballads at 8 p.m. today in Carol Morsani Hall at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place.

Roses In Winter
The Johnnie B. Byrd Sr. Alzheimer's Center & Research Institute's inaugural Roses in Winter gala takes place Thursday in Carol Morsani Hall at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 1010 N. W.C. MacInnes Place.
The event, with the theme Celebrating Memories & Hope, celebrates family memories and hope for Alzheimer's disease prevention. Guest speaker Phyllis George will share stories and memories of her mother, who had Alzheimer's.
The reception begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $200, with proceeds benefiting the institute's research and outreach programs.

Discussing Alzheimer's
A town hall meeting with an expert panel will discuss Alzheimer's disease from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Kings Point Community Clubhouse, 1900 Clubhouse Drive, Sun City Center.
Meeting topics will include diagnosis, treatment, research, support services, coping, advocacy and legal issues.
Connect with others who understand the experience, discuss issues and help the Alzheimer's Association learn how to best serve the changing Alzheimer population.

A Double Buster
The Tampa Theatre, 711 N. Franklin St., Tampa, will feature two Buster Keaton films, 1924's "Sherlock, Jr." and 1922's "Cops," at 3 p.m.
Sun City Center's Rosa Rio will be playing the Mighty Wurlitzer theater organ.

Throttle-Twisting Fun
Xtreme International Ice Racing brings indoor ice speedway to the St. Pete Times Forum, 401 Channelside Drive, at 3 p.m. Sunday.

It's State Fair Time
The Florida State Fair will be a feast for all the senses, with food, rides, performances and other attractions for the whole family.
The fair opens at 9 a.m. Thursday and will run through Feb. 18. Closing times will vary depending on the day of the week.
Visitors can enjoy an abundance of events, including fireworks, a Las Vegas revue, professional wrestling demonstrations, the Elvis Extravaganza Impersonator national finals, a roller derby championship and Country Gold Tour 2008, featuring many popular country singers.
The Tampa Tribune is among the sponsors. Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for ages 6 to 11 and free for ages 5 and younger. Parking is free.
