AARP Offers Free Tax Help

RUSKIN - AARP is offering free tax preparation to middle- and low-income taxpayers.

South Shore locations and times:

•United Community Church, 1501 La Jolla Ave., Sun City Center, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Appointments are available, but walk-ins are welcome. Call (813) 633-2375.

•SunTrust Bank, 502 N. U.S. 41, Ruskin, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Appointments required. Call (813) 641-0334.

• The Neighborhood Service Center, 201 14th Ave. S.E., Ruskin, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Walk-ins welcome.

Taxpayers who are shut-ins can contact Don Frederick at (813) 634-4200 for an appointment.

Participants must bring the following items: last year's tax return, W-2 forms from employers, 1099 forms for interest, dividends, stock sales along with purchase costs of sold assets and 1099 forms for pensions and IRA distributions. You must also have photo identification, a Social Security card or Social Security statements for each person listed on the tax return.
