Published: February 20, 2008

RUSKIN - Camp Bayou was the site of a plein air workshop Feb. 7.

"Though the weather forecast was rain, nearly 20 outdoor painting enthusiasts participated," said Dolly Cummings, nature center education director.

Suzanne Prach of the John Crawford Art Education Studio at the SouthShore Regional Library organized the event. Dorothy Gardiner, a plein air artist, gave an introductory address to the group, and then the painting began.

Each artist used his or her favorite medium to capture sun-dappled, moss-draped oaks, bright pink and purple blooms on an azalea bush and butterflies that flitted across the canvases.
