SUN CITY CENTER - The General Federation of Women's Clubs Sun City Center Woman's Club will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 17 at Community Hall, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Blvd.

The topic will be Staying Healthy Together, and guest speaker Kathryn Kepes will present a program on senior sexuality.

Club members are asked to bring items such as thank-you cards, snacks, paperbacks, cookies, crackers, recent magazines and videos for the January charity, Fisher House. Also being collected are personal grooming items for patients at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center, used batteries to be disposed of properly by the club's conservation committee, and unused or expired prescriptions to be turned over to Hillsborough County sheriff's Deputy Rob Thornton for safe disposal.

"This meeting is also our annual arts and crafts show," said publicity chairwoman MaryLouise Baker. Items for judging must have been completed during 2007 and should be brought in from 9 to 10:45 a.m. to Community Hall. Judging begins at 11.

"Items that take the blue ribbon will go on to the District 8 show in February 2008," Baker said. "You would not believe how talented our members are."

Women who reside in Sun City Center or Kings Point and are interested in becoming members should call Helen Zeiders, (813) 634-9328, or Pat Jacintho, (813) 633-5755.

A social time will be followed by a business meeting at 11:15 a.m. and lunch at noon.

Any Golfers Interested In Forming New Club?
SUN CITY CENTER - Residents of Sun City Center and Kings Point interested in creating a new club for golfers are invited to attend the first meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 17 in the Sandpiper Room, 945 N. Course Lane.

The club-to-be will play at public courses, feature handicapping record-keeping, multi- and mini-league scheduling, and host occasional social get-togethers.

"This new club will not compete with existing clubs like the MGA, nor will it act in any political efforts," said spokesman Art Swallow.

Meeting attendees will add their names to the membership list, discuss how to organize the club, nominate temporary officers and establish committees.

"The next logical step," Swallow said, "would be to file for official club status and recognition with the Sun City Center Community Association. Future steps would be to see how best to serve the golfing residents who do not necessarily belong to WCI courses and to become a force or presence in the community.

"A follow-up meeting date has been set for 7 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Sandpiper Room. Until the meetings, questions, comments and suggestions are welcomed," Swallow said.
