SOUTH SHORE - Hillsborough County officials have approved permits to temporarily disrupt traffic on some South Shore roads to allow utility work and improvements. The following intermittent lane closures have been authorized:
•In Balm, Tampa Electric Co. may need to close the northbound lane of Alderman Turner Road between State Road 674 and Carlton Lake Road for power pole installation. Work is authorized through Jan. 18.
•In Ruskin, power company workers may need to close the westbound lane of Fourth Avenue Southeast between Sixth and Seventh streets southeast through Jan. 18 to install power poles and equipment.
•Also in Ruskin, Verizon has received authorization to close lanes on several streets in the Braemar subdivision, as well as along 19th Avenue Northeast between U.S. 41 and E.G. Simmons Parkway. In Apollo Beach, Elsberry Road between U.S. 41 and Central Avenue may be affected. The company will be installing fiber optics-equipment in the Ruskin area through Dec. 28.
