RUSKIN - Help with writing your life story is being offered in an eight-week course beginning at 10:30 p.m. Friday at the SouthShore Regional Library.
Joan Shalleck, a retired teacher and corporate trainer and member of the Association of Personal Historians, will teach the class from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fridays at the library, 15816 Beth Shields Way.
In the course, students will learn how to make their stories more expressive and interesting. Students will write and read short stories about events from childhood, educational, travel and work experiences.
"The library is the ideal place to have a class like this," Shalleck said, because there are computers available for those without one, and classes in various programs are given, all without charge."
Shalleck said in teaching this course, she finds people begin by insisting they cannot write and do not feel they have lead an interesting life. But once they begin, she said, "it's like a broken tap that keeps on running."
Class size is limited, and registration is required. Call (813) 273-3652 and ask for the reference desk at the library.
