RUSKIN - The developer of the Villages of Cypress Creek along 19th Avenue and U.S. 301 is seeking to extend an excavation permit to allow it to dig a retention lake within the development.
According to the application, 301 Cypress Creek LLC is seeking a two-year extension of a previous permit at the site, which includes about 242 acres.
Cypress Creek, being built in phases, is approved to eventually contain 1,400 single-family homes and 865 town homes.
The original excavation permit was for removal of 535,000 yards of dirt, but only about 136,000 yards were removed. The new permit is for excavation of the remaining 399,000 yards. Representatives of the developer were not available for comment.
The hearing on the special use permit will be held Tuesday before the zoning hearing master beginning at 6 p.m. at Fred B. Karl County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa.
