SUN CITY CENTER - SUN CITY CENTER - The board of the Community Foundation of Greater Sun City Center recently met to elect it newest directors, who will serve three year terms: Bill Richards, a resident of Kings Point; and Rolf Sulzberger and Barbara Van Eycken, both of Sun City Center.
Foundation Chairwoman Evelyn Lunsford said the experience, attributes and skills of the three will greatly add to the board's decision-making authority, as it pertains to the doling out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant money to area nonprofits from the various donor funds it manages locally.
Since the beginning of the year, the foundation has awarded $271,543 to help dozens of organizations, including Youth Environmental Services, SouthShore Arts Council and RCMA Academy Charter School; International Independent Showmen's Association, Beth-El Farmworker Mission and Camp Bayou; LifePath Hospice in Ruskin, Saint Anne Food Pantry and South Shore Jr. Longhorns Pop Warner youth sports.
Jo-an Audsley, James Johnson, Judy Kramer and Arlene Oakley recently completed terms on the board.
"Without volunteers who give so freely of their time and effort," Lunsford said, "the work done by the foundation could not continue."
The foundation is on hiatus until September, at which time consideration of grant requests will resume.
