'Mayor' Candidate Sets Event

RUSKIN - Kathie Aaron, a candidate for honorary mayor of Apollo Beach, is having a family barbecue and dog pageant from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 24 at Dr. Ott's Off-Leash Dog Park, 21st Street Southeast and Third Avenue Southeast.

Pets can compete in contests for the most original costume, most obedient and smartest. The entry fee is $25.
Food and drink tickets are $10, and children younger than 10 will eat free.

Tickets are available at A Peaceful Harbor Day Spa and Salon, 1312-A Apollo Beach Blvd., Apollo Beach, and at the event.

All proceeds benefit the Critter Adoption and Rescue Effort, the American Cancer Society's Look Good ... Feel Better program and the Apollo Beach Chamber of Commerce.
