THURSDAY
Sweet Sounds
"The Sound of Music" will resonate at East Bay High School, 7710 Big Bend Road, Gibsonton, Thursday through Saturday as the theater department's production hits the stage at 7:30 p.m. in the Kathryn Hill Auditorium.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for students and include dessert and a beverage during intermission. For reserved seats, call (813) 671-5134, Ext. 271.
SATURDAY
Treasure Or Trash
Bring a favorite treasure or family heirloom to an antique evaluation beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Henry B. Plant Museum, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd. Tampa.
The tickets for evaluations cost $5 per item and will be sold between 10 a.m. and noon on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a limit of four items per family. If a furniture piece is too large, take a photograph and a drawer or door from the piece to the event.

Eclectic Entertainment
WMNF's Tropical Heatwave, the annual musical event for eclectic music lovers, takes place from 5:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
There will be six stages of entertainment in the Cuban Club, 2010 N. Avenue Republica De Cuba, and surrounding area in Ybor City.
The lineup includes Graham Parker, Sonny Landreth, Brave Combo, Del Castillo, Mighty Lester, Gandalf Murphy & the Slambovian Circus of Dreams and many others. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. To order online, go to www.wmnf.org/ heatwave/tickets.
Kick Up Yer Heels
The Freedom Plaza Country Jamboree and Chili Cook-Off will whet your appetite for food and music from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 1010 American Eagle Blvd., Sun City Center.
Vote for a favorite chili and enjoy the music of Bill Floyd or Roger Bass and The Hillbillies. Tickets are $15 and available by calling (813) 634-1824.
Sunset Cinema
Sunset Cinema, Tampa Theatre's traveling outdoor picture show, presents a showing of "The Wizard of Oz" on Saturday at Cotanchobee Park, 601 Channelside Drive.
Sponsored by Bank of America and The Tampa Tribune, the free series features contemporary and classic films. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. Tampa Theatre will provide concessions.
Gates open at 6 p.m. and the film begins at 8. For details, call (813) 274-8981.
ONGOING
'Gypsy' On Tap
The Village Players will perform the Broadway classic "Gypsy" at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and May 23, 24, 30 and 31 at The James McCabe Theatre, 506 Fifth St., Valrico. A matinee will be performed at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The play is about Gypsy Rose Lee, the archetypical stage mother who pushes her daughters into vaudeville.
