Viva Variety

Be entertained by a variety of talent at Center Stage Live at 8 p.m. at the Tampa Improv, 1600 E. Eighth Ave., in Ybor City.

There will be singing, comedy, dancing, hip-hop and poetry. The performers include Brandi Johnson, Jakina Lynum, Nekasha Richardson, Allyn Washington, Overtime, Ahmad Williams, Miami, Taneshia Greene, Elbert Smith, Jonathan Anglin, Mahogany, Ms. Bri, John Lopez Jr., Grace, Ms. Cook and Octavious Grooms.

A Guitar Czar

Guitarist Adrian Belew brings his power trio to Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, Tampa, at 8 p.m. The opening act is Jerry Outlaw and Friends.

Equestrian Games

More than 100 Special Olympics athletes will participate in equestrian competitions Friday and Saturday at the Florida State Fairgrounds, Bob Thomas Equestrian Center, 2488 U.S. 301 N., Tampa.

The event will start with opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m., followed by the competitions at 7:30 p.m. and continue at 9 a.m. Saturday. The contest will include dressage, English equitation, stock seat equitation, working trails, pole bending, barrel racing, showmanship at halter or bridle and unified sports drill team.

SATURDAY

A 'Ruff' Exhibit

Florida Boxer Rescue is sponsoring the "Ruff Exhibit" through Saturday at the Art Institute of Tampa, 4401 N. Himes Ave., Tampa. The exhibit will raise money and awareness about saving abandoned, abused and surrendered boxer breed dogs.

The artwork will be auctioned at 5:30 p.m. Saturday during The Art of Rescue fundraiser. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. For information about the fundraiser, call Lori at (813) 920-1965 or e-mail boxerart @yahoo.com.

Aural Ammunition

More than 16 bands will perform their renditions of Clash songs when WMNF presents The Clash Tribute at 5 p.m. Saturday at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, Tampa. Performers will range from rock to reggae and alternative to world beat.

Vrooom With A View

Members of Chapter 787 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will host the organization's fifth annual charity classic car show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park, 3602 U.S. 301 N., Tampa.

The event will feature music, drawings, a silent auction, food vendors, face painting, inflatables for children and more. Advance tickets are $12. Admission is $15 donation the day of the show.

Awards will be given to the top 25 cars for best paint, best engine, best interior, club participation and best of show. For information, call Tom Hall at (813) 655-7129.
