The 18-year-old East Bay High School student who was beaten and raped outside Bloomingdale Regional Library on April 24 returned to her south Hillsborough County home earlier this month for the first time since the attack.
She had been in treatment at a Sarasota rehabilitation center for the past five months. The attack left her partially paralyzed and with limited vision.
The victim was wheeled on a gurney into the home, which was recently renovated to accommodate her medical needs - thanks to an outpouring of support from the community.
Below are some of the comments readers left at south shore.tbo.com.

God bless this young woman and her family, as well as the volunteers who are helping them. I hope they continue to receive all the assistance that they're going to need.

I'm praying that being home helps her recovery. I know of an 18-year-old young lady who was brain damaged in a car accident. She didn't really make a lot of progress until she got home. During that time we heard plenty of other stories of people making a lot of progress once they got home. It really helped her. Prayers are with her and her family.

My best to the young lady, and lots of prayers to her and her family. Just keep believing that she will get better now that she is home.

Best of luck, hope and prayers that some positive changes are happening for her and that this will continue. Hope she walks out her front door and takes her dog for a walk. God bless her and her family.
