A dozen bachelors from the Sun City Center area will make their "stud muffin" debut at the 2009 Snow Ball at Aston Gardens.

Dana Dittmar, the director of community relations of Sunrise Senior Living, said she hopes to raise more than $10,000 for the all-volunteer Sun City Center Emergency Squad. While the Dec. 6 event itself is free, they will be selling copies of the 2009 Bachelors of Sun City Center calendar.

"We had nine men apply and then someone on the committee went on e-Harmony and Match.com and put in the Sun City Center zip code and found bachelors," Dittmar said. "We called them and they were the last four we needed to complete the calendar."

Dittmar said during the Snow Ball she will introduce each bachelor as well as the local company that sponsored a particular month of the calendar.

"They were thrilled to be in the calendar," she said. "They were real excited about it. We have had a blast with these guys. They are great personalities, very high energy."

Most of the men are dressed in Florida casual clothing except "Diamond" Jim Kupernick of Sun City Center.

"January likes to think of himself as a James Bond. He is in his white dinner jacket tuxedo," Dittmar said.

Brandon photographers Huth & Booth's donated their services for the charity project.

The calendars are being sold for $10 each with 100 limited edition copies signed by all 12 bachelors selling for $15 dollars.

The gala at Aston Gardens, 1311 Aston Gardens Blvd. will begin at 6 p.m., and includes food and dancing with music by Hal Turner.

Dittmar coordinated the project with the help of Jodi Bavetz of Bavetz Home Management. Some of the sponsors of the calendar included Regions Bank, Allstate Insurance, Morgan Stanley, and the Ruskin Chamber of Commerce.

December is a month packed with holiday parties and gala events in Sun City Center.

After enjoying the Snow Ball earlier in the evening Dec. 6, residents of Sun City Center may head over to Community Hall, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Boulevard, for another gala.

Sponsored by the Academy of Ballroom Dance, the Christmas Ball starts at 7:30 p.m.

Art May will provide recorded music for the two-hour dance. Highlights include a Waltz exhibition by Art and Bernice May. Admission is free for members and $5 for guests. Jackets for men are requested.

The Mays, originally from Dayton, Ohio, have been members of the Academy club since moving to Sun City Center almost three years ago.

Bernice May said she is looking forward to the dance which ends at 9:30 p.m.

"We will do a choreographed Waltz," May said. "The dance will be a dress-up affair. It's going to be a festive event with holiday decorations to get everyone into the holiday spirit."
