Cristine Sanchez stole more than $100,000 from her employer while serving as office manager for a Ruskin business, Hillsborough County deputies say.
Sanchez worked at Sunpointe Automotive, 2212 College Ave. E.
From August 2005 through February, Sanchez wrote about 125 business checks to herself without permission, then cashed the checks and kept the money, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said. The business owner reported in February that money had been stolen.
"Apparently she fled," Carter said of Sanchez. "She was arrested in New York. She was just extradited back to Tampa."
Details on exactly how much money Sanchez stole weren't available, Carter said.
Sanchez, 24, of Riverview, was booked into Orient Road Jail at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
She was charged with grand theft ($100,000 or more), fraudulent use of personal information, and 123 counts of making a false entry on corporate books.
Sanchez, whose first name also is spelled Christine on law enforcement records, remained in jail today. Her bail was set at $302,000.
