RUSKIN - Get ready to fill up on some of the best eats in these parts, and help out a charitable cause while you're doing it.
The third annual Taste of South Shore will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 at The Resort & Club at Little Harbor, and the event promises to be the best yet, organizers say.
Besides the food, the event includes a drawing and music by disc jockey Bob Dunn, who also sings and invites the audience to sing along.
Tickets are $20, and all proceeds are earmarked for Ruskin's Mary and Martha House, which is a shelter for battered women and their children.
"The money goes directly toward paying the women's actual expenses of daily living, including utilities, food and basic necessities," said Molly Ford, the shelter's executive director, adding that the event is a major fundraiser for the shelter. "Last year, we raised around $4,000, and we're praying for more this year."
The Tampa Tribune and the South Shore News & Tribune are event sponsors.
