RIVERVIEW - The players and coaches of the South Hillsborough Soccer League have a new place to play.
On Aug. 23, the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department held a grand opening for the Summerfield Soccer Park, 11942 Big Bend Road.
The day included soccer workshops, skills competitions, a bake sale, player registration, speeches, a silent auction and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The 23-acre site, which cost $3 million to build, has seven soccer fields and a concession building.
The league had been playing games at Vance Vogel Park in Gibsonton.
Last fall, the league had about 650 players. With the opening of the Summerfield complex, the league hopes to register about 1,000.
