RUSKIN - The Ruskin Community Development Foundation wants to hear from you at its next meeting on Oct. 21.
"We hope a large group of people will turn out and provide input," said Fred Jacobsen, foundation president. "The key is community communication."
Two foundation goals - the preservation of Ruskin's natural environment and revitalization of the Ruskin Town Center - will be discussed at the meeting.
The first presenter will be Jan Smith, a former member of the Hillsborough County Planning Commission and acting chairwoman of the county's Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program's general committee. Smith will show a short video concerning ELAPP's future and answer questions.
Next will be the re-introduction of Jim Hosler, who has been retained by the foundation to assist with the redevelopment of the downtown.
"We are actively moving forward and have hired Hosler to assist the foundation with implementing the community plan and making it happen," said Fred Jacobsen, foundation president. "Since he was involved in the planning sessions for a previous plan and this approved plan, we need his support and advice."
The foundation is a nonprofit corporation charged with promoting responsible development and ecotourism of the community and finding funding sources for community projects.
