Teens invited to Battle of Bands

SYDNEY - It won't happen until November, but already Hillsborough County is putting out a call for any teen bands interested in participating in the 12th annual Teenage Battle of the Bands.

The event, sponsored by the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department, will take place at the Hillsborough County Fairgrounds on Nov. 6 and 7. The fairgrounds are at 4810 E. State Road 60 in the Sydney-Dover area, 5 miles east of Brandon.

The two winning bands will receive free studio time to record their own music.

Bands can apply now for the competition. A limited number can compete. The entry fee is $50 per band, and members must be between ages 13 and 20.

Bands will be judged on guitars, drums, showmanship, vocals, originality and preparation.
