Entries Sought For Design Award

The Hillsborough County Planning Commission is seeking entries for its 27th Annual Community Design Awards Program, which recognizes excellence in planning, landscape architecture, environmental sensitivity and architectural design in building and development projects throughout the county.

Any projects, buildings or plans that have been completed in the past five years - from Jan. 1, 2003, to Dec. 31, 2008 - can be considered.

Categories include affordable housing; residential projects; urban infill or adaptive reuse; historic preservation or restoration; commercial, institutional, public or quasi-public projects; environmental projects; master planning and urban design; public participation projects; and "green" projects.

Applicants have until 4:30 p.m. Feb. 18 to submit nominations. Entries should be submitted to: County Center, The Planning Commission, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., 18th Floor, Tampa, FL 33602, Attention: Tony LaColla, AICP.

Winners will be announced April 16 at the commission's 50th Anniversary celebration.
