Free Rides Available To The VA Hospital

Military veterans are eligible to use a free transportation service from South Shore to the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa. The service, which is not accessible to the disabled, operates on weekdays.

Reservations are required to get a ride and are available by calling (813) 642-0302 and leaving your name, phone number, date of appointment and choice of pick-up station.

Pick up stations and departure times are:

•Bus stop, 1009 N. Pebble Beach Blvd., next to the lawn bowling courts in Sun City Center - 6:45 a.m.

•Kings Point Community Center, 1900 Clubhouse Drive, Sun City Center - 6:55 a.m.

•Bealls Department Store, main entrance, 3846 State Road 674, Sun City Center - 7:05 a.m.

•Ruskin Post Office parking lot, 24 Thriftway Plaza, east of U.S. 41 - 7:15 a.m.

•WalMart Super Store, main entrance, 9205 Gibsonton Drive - 7:30 a.m.

The van returns from the hospital no later than 1 p.m.
