Meet A Legend

Come face-to-face with history when retired Air Force Lt. Col. Hiram Mann, an original member of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen, discusses the legacy of World War II's first black military pilots at 2 p.m. today at the SouthShore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin. Learn of their dedication and determination as Mann shares photos, drawings and one of the Tuskegee Airmen's official flight plans.

All Weekend

Bang! Bang!

The Suncoast Gun Show and Sale will be at the Charles M. Davis Special Events Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday. Firearm accessories, including gun parts, tools, knives, locks, cartridge boxes and belts, cases and ammunition for collectors, will be for sale.

Concealed weapons classes will take place at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on both days for a fee of $40. Appointments and firearms are not needed to attend.

Show hours are Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $8 for visitors ages 13 and up. Children younger than 12 enter free but must be accompanied by an adult.

Parking is $5 for cars, $10 for RVs. Visitors are asked to use the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. entrance to the fairgrounds at 4800 U.S. 301 N., Tampa.

Saturday

Fill Up On Flan

The Sixth Annual Flan Fest! returns to Ybor City from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Centennial Park at the corner of Eighth Avenue and 19th Street in Tampa. Forty contestants will participate in the flan bake-off for bragging rights to the "Top Flan in Tampa Bay."

There are two categories - traditional and nontraditional. Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m.

Activities will include food and flan sampling, live entertainment and shopping throughout the day, plus a flan eating contest at 2 p.m.

Sunday

Pluck Those Strings

Listen to the beautiful music of world-class harpist Greg Buchanan at a free concert at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Northside Baptist Church, 1301 U.S. 41 N., Ruskin. Buchanan strums and plucks the harp strings, showing his enthusiastic jazz style and heartfelt sensitivity. Donations will be accepted. Call (813)645-1121.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss

It's time to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday. Come join the fun and party at 2 p.m. Sunday at the SouthShore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin.

Listen to some of his best stories and participate in Seussical activities. Wear a Dr. Seuss hat and enjoy some birthday cake with Thing One and Thing Two.

The Neil Diamond Tribute by Jack Berrios returns to Sun City Center Community Hall, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Blvd., from 2 to 3:30 p.m. March 8.

Tickets are $15 and available at the Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce, 1651 Sun City Center Plaza, and at the door the day of the performance.

Sponsored by the Sun City Center Kiwanis Club, the event will benefit the Kiwanis College Scholarship Fund.
