Pedestrian fatally struck by car in Gibsonton

A pedestrian crossing Symmes Road in Gibsonton was killed Sunday after being hit by a 1993 Toyota Corolla, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Marias Bautista-Hermelendo, 35, of 11633 North St., Gibsonton, died at the scene after he was hit by the Toyota, driven by Schlomidt Rodriguez, 21, of 115 N. Hubert Ave., Tampa. Bautista-Hermelendo was struck by the front of the Toyota at about 10:20 a.m. Sunday, according to the sheriff's office.

No charges have been filed. The investigation continues.
