Thursday

Premiere Honors Two

A new, eight-week gallery exhibit opens at the SouthShore Regional Library and premieres with a reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for two featured artists. Kimberly Charles and Natalie Jones will display their work through April 29. Using simple composition, graphic design and bold color, Charles paints mainly with watercolors. Jones works with oils in outdoor settings and uses her palette knife to avoid being bogged down with details.

The library is at 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin.

Raise The Curtain

Local talent takes to the stage at Sun City Center's Rollins Theater to present "You've Gotta Have Heart" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The show is written and directed by Sun City Center resident and veteran New York actor Lew Resseguie. The $10 tickets are available at the Sun City Center ticket kiosk. The Sun City Center's Performing Arts Club presents the show again March 12-14. The theater is at 970 Cherry Hills Drive, Sun City Center.

Saturday

Support Local Businesses

More than 50 local companies will participate in the third annual Business Expo at the Summerfield Community Center, 13011 Summerfield Blvd. in Riverview. The free expo is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There also will be prizes, handouts and giveaways.

The Summerfield Ladies Club will be on hand to sell hot coffee, cocoa, homemade desserts, cookies and treats, hot dogs and cold beverages. Proceeds will be donated to local charities. Call (813) 671-4568.

Woven Together

The South Shore Gallery will host a reception for T.A.O.S., Tapestry Artists of Sarasota, from 3 to 5 p.m. at 447 Apollo Beach Blvd., Apollo Beach. The featured artists scheduled to appear are Pat Looper, Lynn Mayne, John Nicholson, Becky Stevens and Terri Stewart. Come see their handwoven works of art.

Sunday

Sparkle Like The Diamond

Jack Berrios returns to the Sun City Center Community Hall, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Blvd., to portray Neil Diamond from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Tickets for the Neil Diamond Tribute are $15 and available at the Sun City Center Chamber of Commerce, 1651 Sun City Plaza, and at the door the day of the performance. Sponsored by the Sun City Center Kiwanis Club, the event is a fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting the Kiwanis College Scholarship Fund. Call (813) 633-8574.

All Weekend

Dig Them Rocks

The Tampa Bay Fossil Club hosts its annual Fossil Fest in the Charles M. Davis Special Events Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday. See fossils from around the world, artifacts, gems and minerals, exhibits and displays. There will also be educational lectures, a silent auction, youth fossil mine and children's games.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults. Children ages 12 and younger are free when accompanied by an adult. Parking is $5 per car; $10 per RV or bus.

Tuesday

Timeless Music

Listen to the sounds of "The Great American Songbook - Live" beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the SouthShore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way in Ruskin. Vocalist Perley Rousseau is accompanied by Sonny Daye on piano for a concert highlighting the timeless music of great American composers. Free tickets are available one hour prior to the show.
