SUN CITY CENTER - The SHARE Florida Food Network has opened a distribution site at the Sun City Center Community Center, 1910 S. Pebble Beach Blvd., for residents of the South Shore area.

This location is temporary and will move to St. John the Divine Episcopal Church's East Campus when the new building is completed.

SHARE can help consumers save up to 50 percent or more off groceries. SHARE's basic package, with a retail value of at least $36, costs $18. The menu changes monthly, and each basic package contains several frozen items and a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Everyone is eligible to participate in SHARE, regardless of income. To do so, register with the SHARE Florida Food Network and volunteer some time working at SHARE or a cause of your choice. Each participant signs up and pays cash for a food package and picks it up on a designated day.

Orders for the March 28 distribution will be accepted March 14 at the atrium kiosk, 945 North Course Lane. Orders for April 25 distribution will be accepted April 4 and 11 at the same location.

SHARE Florida Food Network is run by Cornerstone Family Ministries, a nonprofit service organization. The group buys food in bulk and sorts it at warehouses, then distributes it monthly at more than 300 locations throughout the state.
