Hillsborough County neighborhoods needing playground equipment, planning festivals or trying to beautify can apply for grants of up to $1,500 from the county.
The grants are for fiscal year 2010 to fund projects to improve their communities and increase civic involvement.
In the past, grants have been awarded to groups for Web sites and newsletters, safety programs, beautification projects and playground equipment.
The county's Office of Neighborhood Relations will accept applications through July 24. Mini-grant orientation classes are available in various locations:
•Thursday, 6:30 p.m., Brandon Regional Library, 619 Vonderberg Drive.
•May 26, 6:30 p.m., Bloomingdale Regional Public Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico.
•June 4, 6:30 p.m., SouthShore Regional Service Center, 410 30th St. S.E., Ruskin.
