SUN CITY CENTER - Feline Folks sponsored the second annual Cat's Meow auction Oct. 28 in the Kings Point Clubhouse.
More than 100 people attended, with $2,800 raised. The event also helped stock up on cat food, which was collected as part of the admission.
There were 40 silent auction and 70 live auction items for participants to bid on, in addition to the 20 door prizes awarded. The variety of items included everything from massages to SeaWorld tickets.
Volunteers dressed as cats for the event. Attendees also enjoyed live music and refreshments, with cakes shaped like cats.
The money raised will help fund 2010 efforts to benefit free-roaming cats in the South Shore area. Two key programs include Operation Feral Fix and the Tuna Chest.
