RIVERVIEW - At the October Operation Field of Honor ceremony conducted by the Veterans Council of Hillsborough County at the Hillsborough County Veterans Memorial Museum and Park, the Riverview Detachment of the Marine Corps League remembered soldiers who died during the previous 90 days.
A flag was planted in the field in honor of each of the fallen members of the Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Army after their names were read aloud.
Brush Strokes Awards
RUSKIN - The sixth annual Brush Strokes Awards for Excellence in the Arts took place Oct. 29 at Brandon's Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association.
Local recipients included the South Shore Arts Council's Big Draw Ruskin, as Exhibit of the Year, accepted by Peter Smith, council president.
Terrific kids recognized
WIMAUMA - Thirty-eight Reddick Elementary students were recognized by the Kiwanis Club of Sun City Center in October as Terrific Kids - exceptional role models for others at the school. The students are thoughtful, enthusiastic, respectful, responsible, influential, friendly, impeccable and caring - terrific.

'Bermuda Avenue Triangle' opens
SUN CITY CENTER - "Bermuda Avenue Triangle" will be presented by the Pelican Players at 7 p.m. Friday and at 1:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday in the Borini Theater in the Kings Point Clubhouse, 1900 Clubhouse Drive.
The cast, directed by Rex Hall and his assistant Bill Turcotte, includes Carlyn Postle, Marcia Dobbin, Dianna Hinkley, C.J. Kilgore, Jeff Kligore and Paul Hassall. Mary Anne Moseley is the show's producer.

Toys for Tots collection begins
SOUTH SHORE - The Riverview Detachment of the Marine Corps League is collecting toys for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive.
