LAKE PLACID — Thelma Becker has been on a mission to "feed my sheep" since 1994, when she founded Manna Ministries. Becker is stepping down as director at the food pantry for health reasons. Marlene Christiansen will become the new director. Manna supplies 50 pounds of food and up to 20 pieces of clothing each month to clients who are screened for eligibility, based on income. HOLIDAY – A man robbed a Sweetbay pharmacy this afternoon, and Pasco County Sheriff's deputies are investigating. The robbery happened at about 11:30 a.m., when a man carrying a gun wrapped in newspaper demanded that a pharmacy clerk give him OxyContin, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of the drug, and the robber fled the store. ...more
