George and Cassandra Banning hosted the Plant City Daybreak Rotary Club's first Halloween Howl party for charity in 2006 at their Walden Lake home. A second one is planned for Saturday, with profits going to Unity in the Community, which helps Plant City area people in need. It's not too late to buy a ticket for this year's Halloween Howl party starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Banning home, 2506 Clubhouse Drive, Plant City. Halloween Happenings SCARE THE CROW FUNDRAISER: Plaza Bella, 1078 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico. A 'Scare The Crow' fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today. Heartland Horses and Handicapped Inc.'s second Annual Denim and Diamonds Gala held at the Quality Inn of Sebring on Saturday, Sept. 8 was a great success. Once again, the generous community of Highlands County pulled together in support of a unique and greatly needed program, which offers free equine assisted therapy for children and adults with special needs. The stars of the evening (and every day) were each of the seven horses, whose cost of care was auctioned off, granting the winning bidder a one-year sponsorship of their horse. ...more
